On the occasion of Smoke-Free Week and World No Tobacco Day 2024, the Tobacco Control Unit (UCT) of the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO), in collaboration with the University of Barcelona (UB), has produced a series of videos to debunk five myths about tobacco.
Starring UB medical and nursing students, the videos aim to debunk some of the most common myths about tobacco and its derivatives. They are specifically aimed at young people, as the World Health Organization’s (WHO) campaign this year focuses on “protecting young people from the practices of the tobacco industry” – a growing concern given the emergence of new tobacco products, such as electronic cigarettes, with flavours that appeal to this age group.
The videos have been posted on social media and can be viewed on UB screens.
